Last-Minute Flight Cancellation: Your Rights

  2. If you choose not to accept the replacement flight offered, you have the right to a complete refund from Loganair. This refund can either be transferred to your banking account, or issued as a Loganair voucher.
  3. Provided it’s a last-minute flight cancellation (i.e., a flight cancelled up to 2 weeks before the original departure date), and the cancellation is Loganair’s fault, you can claim flight cancellation compensation from Loganair.

2. What to Do if Your Flight Is Cancelled Last-Minute?

2.1 If You Are Still at Home or Hotel

If you’re still at home or in your hotel and your flight has been cancelled, you’re advised to remain there for now. Reach out to Loganair’s customer service to figure out your next steps.

As mentioned previously, Loganair will provide aid. They will inform you about your alternatives – there’s a chance you may be flying later in the day or the following day. Flight availability will dictate this. Remember that you may request a flight with a different airline, too.

2.2 If You Are Already at the Airport

If your Loganair flight is cancelled while you’re at the airport, it’s best not to go through airport security. 3. Loganair Flight Cancellation Compensation

Specific compensation regulations regarding flight cancellation have been set forth by the UK/EU.

If Loganair cancels your flight less than 2 weeks before the scheduled departure date, it falls under last-minute flight cancellation, and compensation may be due.

Your flight is cancelled 7 – 14 days before the scheduled time of departure:

  • If you opt for a new flight Loganair offers that depart no later than 2 hours from the original departure time, and you arrive at your destination less than 4 hours from the first intended arrival time, you are not up for compensation.
  • For all other scenarios, compensation is due.

Your flight is cancelled less than 7 days before the scheduled time of departure:

  • If you select a new flight Loganair presents that departs no more than 1 hour before the original time, and you arrive at your final destination less than 2 hours from the first intended arrival time, you do not qualify for compensation.
  • For all other instances, compensation is due.

Conditions for claiming compensation:

  • Flight cancelled due to Loganair’s fault;
  • Flight is to/from/within Europe;
  • Flight cancelled last minute (less than 14 days before departure).

4. Loganair Flight Cancellation Refund

If Loganair cancels your flight, you are entitled to either rerouting to your final destination or a full refund. The refund can be transferred to your bank account or issued as a Loganair voucher based on your preference and future travel plans.

Your Loganair refund should be processed within 7 days.

It is crucial to understand that compensation and refund rights are independent under the UK/EU flight compensation legislation. Thus, even if you choose the refund option, you might still qualify for compensation based on the specifics of the flight cancellation, as discussed above.

4.1 What If You Cancel a Flight?

The refund conditions differ when you, as a passenger, cancel your flight.

Generally, Loganair’s refund policy is dependent on the type of ticket you bought.

Full-flex tickets are typically refundable, whereas non-flexible, low-cost tickets may not be. Make sure to check the specific conditions of your ticket or reach out to Loganair’s customer service for clarification. If you have cancellation coverage through your travel insurance, you might be able to claim your refund from your insurance provider.

5. How to Claim Loganair Flight Cancellation Compensation or Cancellation Refund?

What about flight cancellation compensation?

Remember, you have the right to receive compensation, and you are not obligated to accept travel vouchers. According to EC Regulation 261, flight disruption compensation in the EU must be directly transferred to your bank account. The compensation amount is fixed, ranging from 250 to 600 euros.
